Custom Tank Top Manufacturer

Custom tank tops for training and team programmes

Tank tops are the easiest style to underestimate — armhole shape and strap placement decide whether the garment stays on the shoulder. We build training, running and team tanks in quick-dry knit and bonded constructions, with sublimation printing handled in-house.

  • Fabrics: quick-dry knit, bonded seams, sublimation printing
  • MOQ: 100 pcs per style per colour, fully custom
  • Sampling in 3–7 days · 150,000–200,000 pcs monthly capacity
  • 18,000+ m² across 4 production lines · ISO 9001 certified since 2009

Tank tops and crop tops: setting the neckline, armhole and support before sampling

The archive carries four references: a high support sports crop top, a moisture-wicking yoga tank, a quick-dry sleeveless gym crop top and a high neck cropped ribbed tank in a soft stretchy cotton blend. Treat them as four separate starting bodies rather than a range to shop. Choose the closest, then state neckline, armhole, body length, fabric and support in the enquiry. Cut-and-sew tops start at 100 pieces per style per colour, bonded work at 200, samples take 3–7 days and bulk runs 15–25 days after approval.

Four references, three different jobs

The high support sports crop and the moisture-wicking yoga tank sit closest to the sports bra family: they are built for training, running and studio sessions, where the top has to hold on its own without a second layer. The quick-dry sleeveless crop is the lighter gym piece. The high neck ribbed tank is the softer, cotton-rich option for layering and everyday wear. None of the four is stock.

Each card fixes a body and a look. Neckline depth, armhole curve, body length, fabric, colour and label stay open. Two crops cut from the same fabric with different necklines are two styles for the minimum, and each needs its own 100 pieces per colour.

Neckline and armhole decide whether the top stays on the shoulder

On a sleeveless body the armhole curve and the strap position carry the fit. A strap set too far outboard slides off the shoulder, one set too far inboard rubs the side of the neck, and the difference between the two is a few millimetres on the pattern. Armhole depth, strap width at the shoulder and neckline depth front and back are therefore written on the spec sheet as measurements rather than as adjectives.

The neckline finish is specified with its method and finished width, then approved on the sample. The high neck ribbed card shows the top of the range we run; a lower neckline is a pattern change on the same body, quoted against the reference instead of being assumed from a photograph.

Underarm and side seam come next. The underarm point sets how far the armhole opens when the wearer lifts an arm, and the side seam sets how the body follows the ribcage, so both are checked together on a live fit sample.

Decide the support layer before the fabric

Where a crop top has to work without a bra, support is a construction decision rather than a fabric one. The options we already run on sports bra styles can be built into the brief: power mesh lining for structure, removable pad pockets, and a built-in shelf on longer bodies. Lining, pad pocket, shelf and strap block work as a set, so they are approved as one sample instead of being added in bulk.

Where the top is a layering piece worn over a bra, the body can stay single layer and the fabric does the work. Say which of those two jobs the garment has at the enquiry stage, because it changes the pattern, the lining and the cost of the style.

Match the knit to how the top will be worn

The two performance crops are the moisture-wicking and quick-dry pieces. Tanks and tops sit at 140–180 GSM in the yoga fabric table we quote from, on a poly or nylon blend: light and breathable for heated practice and for layering. Polyester-rich cloth is also what takes sublimation. The ribbed reference is a soft stretchy cotton blend, where the rib structure supplies both the shape and the recovery.

Weight and blend are quoted together, each option with a swatch card showing composition and GSM. Where a buyer already works with a mill, fabric can be bought from the supplier you nominate, and that mill reference goes into the order file so the next order starts from the same source.

Recovery matters as much as weight on a stretch tank. A band that grows after a few washes shows at the neckline first, so stretch and recovery are written on the spec sheet and compared against the sample after washing.

Set the crop line, then grade the armhole across sizes

A cropped body is measured against the bottoms it will be sold with, so state the finished body length and where the hem should sit relative to the waistband of the legging or short in the same collection. Hem depth and hem finish belong to that measurement rather than to a separate note.

Grading runs on the size set you specify, on US, EU or Asian grading, plus, petite and tall included. The armhole and neckline are re-checked at the top of the range, because those are the points where a graded block shows its shape first. Sizes can be mixed inside one colourway, so a single 100 piece order can carry the full run in one colour.

Labels, decoration and inspection on a sleeveless body

Decoration on a tank sits close to the neckline and the underarm, where the fabric moves most. Sublimation handles all-over print on polyester-rich cloth, screen print uses an elastic ink that stretches with the knit, and heat transfer or silicone gives flat, low-profile marks. Embroidery is backed so the stitch area stays soft against skin and does not pucker when the fabric extends.

Private label covers woven neck labels, printed care and size labels, inside-neck print, hangtags and bags. Woven labels and hangtags start at 1,000 pieces, jacquard labels and silicone badges at 300, and those trim minimums sit alongside the garment minimum rather than adding to it.

Every style carries an approved order file and a sealed pre-production sample. Incoming fabric is weighed on a circular cutter gsm scale and checked against the approved weight and colour, checks continue through cutting, in-line construction and finishing, the packing line runs needle detection, and finished cartons are sampled to AQL 2.5 under the ISO 9001 system.

Send the card link or a tech pack with the quantity per colour, the size range, the fabric direction, the support level and the decoration placement. If the top belongs to a set, send the legging or short reference in the same message so both pieces can be costed together and cut from one lot. Sampling is charged, and the fee is offset against the invoice when a first order reaches 300 pieces of a style.

Frequently asked questions

What is the minimum order for a custom tank top or crop top?

The minimum is 100 pieces per style per colour, with sizes mixed inside one colourway. Bonded construction starts at 200 pieces per style per colour. A neckline or armhole change creates a new pattern, so it is counted as a separate style with its own minimum. Woven labels and hangtags start at 1,000 pieces, jacquard labels and silicone badges at 300, and those trim minimums sit alongside the garment minimum.

Can you change the neckline or armhole on one of the catalogue tank tops?

Yes. Change the neckline depth, the armhole curve or the strap width and the pattern is redrawn from the reference, then quoted as a new style. Send the card link with the change marked, or a tech pack with the measurements. The altered neckline and armhole are checked on the fit sample before grading, because those two points decide how the top sits on the shoulder.

How do you build support into a high support sports crop top?

Support comes from construction as much as from fabric. Power mesh lining gives structure, removable pad pockets add coverage, and a built-in shelf can be specified on longer bodies. Lining, pad pocket, shelf and strap block are approved together as one sample. The fabric direction is a poly or nylon blend, chosen with the weight and recovery written on the same spec sheet.

Do you make soft ribbed cotton tank tops for layering programmes?

Yes. The high neck cropped ribbed tank is a soft stretchy cotton blend, where the rib structure supplies the shape and the recovery. It suits layering and everyday wear rather than high impact training. Rib, neckline depth, crop length and hem finish are confirmed on the sample, and the style can carry woven neck labels, printed care and size labels, inside-neck print and hangtags to your artwork.

How long do tank top samples and bulk production take?

Samples take 3–7 days once the tech pack, fabric and artwork direction are agreed. Bulk production takes 15–25 days after sample approval and deposit, and both periods cover factory work only without transport. Sampling is charged, and the fee is offset against the invoice when a first order reaches 300 pieces of a style. Trade terms are EXW, FOB Shenzhen Yantian or DDP.

Can tank tops carry sublimation print and a full private label package?

Sublimation works on polyester-rich fabric, so it suits the performance crops and not the cotton-rich ribbed tank, which takes screen print, heat transfer, silicone or embroidery. Private label covers woven neck labels, printed care and size labels, inside-neck print, hangtags and bags. Artwork is approved on a strike-off, stitch-out or physical sample, and label positions are checked on the sealed pre-production sample.
