Apparel Manufacturing Solutions by Buyer Type
Buyers reach a factory from different starting points: a first sample for a new label, a colour range for a club season, or a 100-piece test before committing to a full programme. The six routes below are organised by that starting point rather than by product category. Each one sets out the decisions in the order they have to be made, the quantity that decision produces, and where the count rises.
What does not change between routes is the factory behind them: SLSPOLO is the export brand of Dongguan Yingchun Garment, a knitwear and sportswear manufacturer in Humen Town, Dongguan, operating since 2009, with more than 18,000 square metres of floor space, four lines and over 180 staff.
Start from your situation
- Small batch orders — how a 100-piece run is counted per style and per colour, when a bonded style needs 200, and why trims are a separate decision.
- Startup clothing brands — how many styles belong in a first order, starting without a tech pack, and the sequence from reference style to reorder.
- Private label production — OEM against ODM, the four layers of brand identity, trim minimums, care labels and carton marking.
- Team and club uniforms — building a size spread, fixing badge placement and colour count, and working backwards from a date that cannot move.
- Golf club apparel — putting a season together from polos, shorts or skorts and a mid layer, with one colourway set running through it.
- Fitness studios and gyms — outfitting instructors and stocking a retail corner from the same order, with fabric weight chosen for the use.
What holds across every route
These figures apply whichever page you started from, so they are worth checking before a first message. The minimum is counted per style and per colour, and sizes mix inside a colour. Sampling is charged, and the charge is credited against the value of the first order once that style reaches 300 pieces.
| Item | Standard figure | Where it rises |
|---|---|---|
| Garment minimum | 100 pieces per style per colour | 200 pieces for bonded and seam-sealed builds |
| Sampling | 3–7 days | Corrections are applied and resampled until you approve in writing |
| Bulk production | 15–25 days from written approval | Neither figure includes shipping time |
| Trim minimums | 1,000 pieces for woven labels and hangtags, 300 for jacquard labels and silicone badges | Counted per design, alongside the garment minimum rather than on top of it |
| Trade terms | EXW, FOB Shenzhen / Yantian, DDP | Each term allocates a different set of costs, so one garment produces three numbers |
Where to start if you are unsure
Send the garment you have in mind and the quantity you are considering, and the route follows from those two facts. A reference sample, a sketch or photographs are enough to begin; a full tech pack is not required. Where the fabric or the construction is still open, we set out the options at the weight and the build you are aiming for, and you choose before anything is cut.
The same nine items drive any quote: construction, graded measurements, fabric and weight, quantity per style per colour, decoration, trims and packing, required lead time, target price range and Incoterm. Sending them together is the difference between one exchange and four.

Each process behind these routes is described in the manufacturing processes section, from cutting and sewing through to inspection.
