What Is the SLSPOLO Minimum Order Quantity?

The minimum is 100 pieces per style per colour for most builds, and 200 pieces for bonded and seam-sealed construction. The minimum is counted per style and per colour, so a single style in three colours is three minimums. Trim minimums — woven labels, hangtags, jacquard and silicone badges — are counted separately and are not added on top of the garment minimum.

How the minimum is counted

Minimum order quantity by build type
BuildMinimumCounted asNotes
Polo shirts, T-shirts, hoodies, sweatshirts100 piecesPer style, per colourSize spread within the 100 is yours to set
Yoga wear and activewear100 piecesPer style, per colourGraded size sets applied to the same minimum
Bonded and seam-sealed garments200 piecesPer style, per colourHigher because bonding requires its own set-up and press parameters
Woven labels1,000 piecesPer designCounted separately from garments
Hangtags1,000 piecesPer designCounted separately from garments
Jacquard patches300 piecesPer designCounted separately from garments
Silicone badges300 piecesPer designCounted separately from garments

A worked example: one polo style in two colours at 100 pieces each is 200 pieces in total, and both minimums are met. Adding a woven label does not raise the garment minimum, because the label is ordered to its own supplier minimum of 1,000 pieces and the surplus stays available for your next run.

Why the minimum sits where it does

A knitting and cut-and-sew line has fixed set-up work at the start of every style: pattern confirmation, grading, marker making, fabric booking, machine settings and a first-piece check. Below roughly 100 pieces that set-up dominates the cost of the order, which is why the number is set where it is rather than lower. Bonded construction carries more set-up — adhesive film, temperature, pressure and dwell time are all validated for the specific fabric pairing — so its minimum is higher.

What is inside the minimum

  • Pattern development or adjustment to your specification, and grading across your size set.
  • Fabric sourcing to the composition and GSM you name, with a colour standard for approval.
  • Sampling takes 3–7 days, with further rounds until the sample is approved.
  • Bulk production in 15–25 days after approval, excluding shipping.
  • AQL 2.5 inline and final inspection.
  • Trim placement, packing to your folding and bagging specification, and carton marking.

Planning around the minimum

Two approaches work well. The first is to concentrate an opening order on one style in one colour, spend the full quantity on a size spread that matches your actual sales curve, and use the sample round to confirm fit before repeating. The second is to place several styles in a single colourway so fabric can be booked once across the group, which keeps the per-unit cost closer to a larger run than the individual quantities suggest. Both are worth raising at quotation stage, because which one works depends on the fabric we hold at the time.

When ordering at the minimum makes sense

A first drop, a market test, a colour extension on a proven style, and a team or event order all sit naturally at or near the minimum. Where a programme is likely to repeat, it helps to plan the second run while the first is still in production: the fabric, the pattern and the approved sample are already in place, so the lead time on the repeat is shorter than the first round was.

Questions buyers ask next

Can I mix sizes inside the minimum?

Yes. The 100 pieces are yours to spread across your size set, and the grading is done to your specification.

Can I mix colours to reach the minimum?

No — the minimum is per colour as well as per style. Two colours of the same style is two minimums.

Is the minimum negotiable for a first order?

The standard minimum applies to all orders. If your first run is below it, ask anyway: fabric we already hold and simpler constructions give us more room than a developed style does.

Do leftover trims carry over?

Trim minimums are supplier minimums and sit outside the garment minimum. Whether any surplus can be carried over depends on the trim and the supplier, so ask when you order.

Does the minimum change for repeat orders?

No. Repeat programmes run on the same terms, with the advantage that the pattern, grading and approved sample already exist.

Where to go from here

Send the style, the colour count and the size spread you have in mind and the quantity question can be answered against your actual order rather than in general. Polo shirt manufacturing and polo shirt styles show the range; contact SLSPOLO for a quote.
